We are the only poultry farm in Malaysia licensed by MARDITECH that produces the first ever designer egg in the country under the brand name LTK Omega Plus. In comparison with an ordinary egg, LTK Omega Plus contains up to 5 times more Omega-3 Fatty Acids, 5 times more Docosahexaenoic Acids (DHA), 4 times more Vitamin E and 2 times more Selenium.
Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA) is the major essential Omega-3 Fatty Acid and is found abundantly in vegetable oil such as flaxseed. Our hens fed with a uniquely-formulated diet by MARDI's scientists containing flaxseed are able to lay eggs enriched with Omega-3 Fatty Acids. The ingested Omega-3 Fatty Acids which is in the form of ALA will be converted to Eicosapentaenoic Acids (EPA) and further to DHA in human body. Nevertheless, report shown that the conversion of ALA to EPA and DHA in humans is limited. Laying hens appear to have a considerably greater potential for conversion of dietary ALA to DHA, thus the inclusion of flaxseed as a source of ALA in hen's diet results in a substantial conversion to DHA and a considerable enrichment of the egg in pre-formed DHA.
Adequate intake of EPA and DHA is vital for the health benefits of our heart, brain and eyes. Many researches have shown that consumption of EPA and DHA is associated with reduced risk of developing coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, rheumatoid arthritis and some cancers such as breast, colon and prostate cancers as well as lowering blood triglyceride level on average 45% and "very bad" VLDL cholesterol by more than 50%. A recent study also reported that children supplemented with Omega-3 Fatty Acids have significant improvement in learning and behavioral problems. Moreover, DHA acts as a key component of cell membranes that are vital for brain and eyes development.
LTK Omega Plus contains approximately 400-600mg per 100g Omega-3 Fatty Acids and 120-200mg per 100g DHA. A large and medium size egg weighs around 60-69g and 50-59g respectively. Consumption of only one LTK Omega Plus egg daily can contribute substantially to the Recommended Daily Intake of Omega-3 Fatty Acids. On top of that, LTK Omega Plus also contains 4.1mg per 100g Vitamin E and 40mcg per 100g Selenium, in which both Vitamin E and Selenium are powerful antioxidants that eliminate harmful free radicals in human body. Besides that, LTK Omega Plus only contains Natural Carotenoid, no synthetic colouring is used to enhance the yolk colour.
